"Black Cat", with its signature sense of humor and childlike style, is Shen Jingdong's unique interpretation of animal anthropomorphism and emotional expression. The black cat in the painting is rendered with a glossy, almost sculptural texture — its body black, structure simple and rounded, limbs slender, and lines smooth. Its head is exaggerated into a geometric circle, while its large yellow eyes gaze directly at the viewer, creating an atmosphere that is both alert and mysterious. The facial details of the cat are executed with minimalist brushwork, yet still retain expressive tension, as if silently observing the human world.
Shen Jingdong is renowned for his "toy-like" character modeling.
