Notes:
This work shows Iskandar Jari’s representative style of perfectly combining traditional craftsmanship with modern visual language. The shape of the vessel is thick and round, with a full shoulder and a unique shape extending in a serrated shape. It seems broken but has a unique tension, reflecting the artist’s deep understanding of the aesthetics of "wabi-sabi". The surface of the vessel is painted with dense and free green abstract swirls, like calligraphy, rhythmic and lively, which seems to imply the decorative vocabulary of Javanese scroll paintings, while echoing Singapore’s multicultural roots. The glaze forms a natural texture and kiln-changed effect during the firing process, with layers of colors overlapping, showing a simple and warm feeling. Iskandar is good at writing philosophy with clay. He once said, "Clay taught me what humility is." This work is not only a practical vessel, but also a cultural artifact that carries thoughts and identity, reflecting the artist's decades of profound dialogue with earth, water and fire.

33 Auction's Shipping Department can advise buyers on exporting and shipping property. Please complete and sign the shipping instruction form sent with your invoice if this service is required.
