Notes:
I Nyoman Gunarsa’s works are rooted in the integration of traditional Balinese dance and music. His use of color is magnificent, his compositions unrestrained, and his paintings pulse with movement and spirituality.
In The Violinist, Gunarsa depicts a female performer dressed in traditional Indonesian attire, crowned with flowers. A dreamy blue-toned background evokes both melody and a flowing visual rhythm.
