Notes:
Fang Xiang's ink paintings are known for their rich visual information and delicate time and space. "Crossing the Bridge" continues the composition of "private garden narrative", but further guides the viewer into a poetic spatial hierarchy in the arrangement of the situation. On the left side of the picture, a traditional courtyard corridor with red columns and painted window lattices constructs a rich and quiet family space, with vines climbing the wall, flowers falling all over the ground, and tables and chairs scattered in an orderly manner, creating a life scene with great humanistic warmth. Moving to the right, you can see a small bridge connecting the inner house and the paddy field. The children and ducks passing through it become the lively rhythm points in the picture, which not only evokes childhood memories, but also implies the continuation of life and the poetry of daily life. Red, green, blue, ochre, and ink are intertwined and blended, showing lightness in the heavy and layers in the complex.
Crossing the Bridge is not only a color ink painting of still life and architecture, but also a visual allegory about "crossing" and "connection": it connects the interior and nature, reality and memories, and also allows the viewer to "cross the bridge" in the painting, from stillness to flow, and travel into memories and dreams in the present.
方向的彩墨作品一向以丰沛的视觉信息与细腻的时空铺陈见长。《小河水涨》延续其“私家园林叙事”的构图方式，却在情境安排上更进一步地将观者引导入一个诗意叠嶂的空间层次中。
画面左侧，一座传统宅院廊檐以红柱与彩绘窗棂构建出一个浓郁而静谧的家庭空间，藤萝攀墙，花落满地，桌椅错落有致，营造出极具人文温度的生活情景。视线向右推移，便见一座小桥连接内宅与水田，穿行其中的孩童与鸭群则成为画面中灵动的节奏点，既唤起童年回忆，也寓含生命的延续与日常的诗意。红、绿、青、赭、墨诸色交织交融，于浓重中见轻灵，于繁复中见层次。
