    Specialist and Junior Specialist

    Modern and Contemporary South-East Asian Department

    Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will work to source blue-chip and high-end property for sale in their respective department
  • Identify and generate new sources of business, including establishing parameters for targeting new sellers
  • Create and develop long-term client relationships
  • Manage existing client accounts
  • Work with marketing, administration and other sales staff to determine and meet company and client goals
  • Doing research and write-up for the auction lots
  •  

    Requirements:

  • The ideal applicant will have a degree in at least one of the following fields: Fine Arts, Business, Asian Studies, Liberal Arts, Languages
  • A minimum of 3 years experience (1 year for junior specialist) in an auction house or art gallery with similar focus
  • Detailed knowledge of the international art market, with a developed client list and strong knowledge of international contemporary and modern art are essential
  • An excellent  strategic thinker with the proven ability to perform in a highly competitive market 
  • Exceptional communications, networking and negotiating skills
  • Bilingual in both English & either Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia or any South-East Asian languages to liaise with clients and associates.
  • Resourceful and able to work independently
  • Highly motivated and able to undertake pressure
  • Able to work under tight deadlines
  • Prepared to travel anytime

  • The successful candidate will work to set-up new representative office in the country and handle the day to day operation of the representative office
  • Identify and generate new sources of business, including establishing parameters for targeting new buyers in the country
  • Create and develop long-term client relationships
  • Manage existing client accounts
  • Work with the specialist department, administration and other sales staff to determine and meet company and client goals
  • Handle import/export shipping documents –coordinating with counterparts on shipments
  • Developing client lists by notifying potential clients of particular works according to their stated interests, effectively communicating with clients
  • Schedule appointments and meetings, liaising with clients and specialists
  • Manage post-event process, including payment and feedback
  •  

    Requirements:

  • The ideal applicant should have a strong local knowledge and a developed client list of collectors
  • A degree in one of the following fields: Business, Communications, Liberal Arts, Languages, Fine Art
  • An excellent  strategic thinker with the proven ability to perform in a highly competitive market 
  • Exceptional communications, networking and negotiating skills

  • Knowledge of art history is not required

    Responsibilities:

  • Receive all incoming phone calls for the department, answering basic questions regarding the business in a polite and professional telephone manner.
  • Understanding auction logistics and able to fulfill the relevant administrative work
  • Creating consignment contracts and liaising with vendors in a timely manner
  • Planning, organizing, presenting and marketing auction previews
  • Preparing press releases, advertising material and liaising with the media
  • Assisting the specialist in research and write-up for the auction lots
  • Securing facilities for holding auctions and maintaining productive relationships with auction suppliers
  • Handle import/export shipping documents –coordinating with counterparts on shipments
  • Cataloguing acquisitions and keeping records and archives of the inventory
  • Developing client lists by notifying potential clients of particular works according to their stated interests, effectively communicating with clients
  • Schedule appointments and meetings, liaising with clients and specialists
  • Manage post-event process, including payment and feedback
  • Ensuring department auction information on website is up to date and professional
  •  

    Requirements:

  • Min. 1-2 years of experience in the arts or auction houses
  • Graduate of any Business related courses
  • Bilingual in both English & either Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia to liaise with associates and clients
  • PC Literate: MS Office Applications, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver
  • Customer orientated with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Resourceful and able to work independently
  • Highly motivated and able to undertake pressure
  • Able to work under tight deadlines
  • Knowledge on inventory control is an advantage 
  • Excellent written as well as verbal communication skills
  • Solid negotiation skills
